I heard a really funny song a while back and would love to find out who sang it and what it is called. It is a folk song I believe. It is sung in quite a bit, if not mostly German (I think). It is a dad singing to his daughter that he wants her to find a husband and she sings back what sounds like "jah fahdder jah" or "yah father yah" (I know that spelling is atrocious):o and then she goes on to sing all the reasons this guy is not who she wants. It is hilarious. I thought perhaps it was John McCutcheon, but can't find it using his name, so perhaps I'm wrong. I hope someone can help me! Thanks:)

I enlisted the help of the editor for Sing Out! Magazine and he gave me this info.
The song Medli Witt Du Heire, also called Meedli Widdu Heiere has only been recorded twice to his knowledge.
One is by George Britton for Folkways records (available on CD)http://www.folkways.si.edu/albumdetails.aspx?itemid=176. The other was recorded only on cassette by Keith & Karlene Brintzenhoff. http://www.kutztown.edu/community/pgchc/store/store_cds_records_tapes.htm
I hope one is the version you are looking to find.
