I'm really going to need your guy's help... I haven't always owned just one cat and dog... I used to own Rex(my husky), and two cats princess and sox. When my brother got a dog the cats were afraid of him and went to live down at my gramma's and she always fed them. When my brother moved away I was excited for the fact that my cats would com back. And sox did about two weeks later. I was thrilled, and she loved rex she would always just go up to him and rub up against him.

But my cat princess never came back, she stayed around my gramma's house. At this time there were people living across the road renting a house. The cat went down there every once in a while and they would take her in the house and feed her and everything. Right before moving out of their house they saw my mom in town and asked her if it was our cat she said yes, and she asked them not to take it with them . Now the cat came up to our house a couple times but they(the neighbours) would keep her in the house down their during the night and most of the day.

They moved away and I never saw princess again.I was heart broken this was my kitty that I had loved so much. I kept telling my mom they probably took her, but she would just say no, they knew she was ours and I told them not to take her. Over the next few months, I could only think of one thing that she must have gotten ran over, by a car. I was devastated but I hadn't seen her in months. I think I mostly blamed myself, but I didn't know what to do she was so scared of my brother's dog...
:(
Yesterday my mom was in town, and she saw the people who used to live next to us. And she asked them if they had our cat... Sure enough they did. At first I felt a sense of relief knowing my kitty wasn't dead. But then I felt anger how could they take my cat, when they knew she was ours and they were told not to take her.

I just really want her back... Someone told me I was selfish, and the kids who lived there would cry for her. But what about all the times I cried for her??

I don't know what to do. I just want my cat back.

Hi, rex123!

Well, what has your mom said about you getting your cat back now since you know where your cat is?

Thanks!

She says she has to talk to my dad. I just miss her so much. And I know it will be quite a bit of work. Since she was afraid of my brother's dog. I'll have to get her used to mine.

It does look like things are in the works then concerning getting Princess returned. Correct?

A lot will depend on the laws where you live. In some municipalities (in the US) if a cat is roaming free after a certain length of time it is regarded as a stray. Of someone feeds it, takes it in, and takes it to the vet, that person considered to have ownership of the cat. This is just one of many reasons it's a bad idea to leave a cat outside day and night to roam free. As I say, the laws are different in different places, but often if a cat is left outside the owner is regarded as having relinquished ownership of the cat. You'll have to find out what the laws are where you live. If the people who have her now have been caring for her for some time it may be unlikely that they are going to be willing to surrender her without a fight.

If it comes down to a legal battle you might want to consider what is in the best interests of the cat. Very often under these circumstances the cat will be removed from its current home and kept in a cage in a shelter until all legal issues have been resolved. This can easily take months, during which time the cat is caged. I know someone who when through this and when the cat finally came home from the shelter he had conracted herpes (which cannot be cured). Just something to consider.

I am sorry I couldn't post duing the day, I was at school. Well, you wouldn't believe what (or who) greeted me at the door when I got home. Princess, the cat I haven't seen in 5-6 months. I was thrilled.

But my other cat hissed at her and walked away. I didn't think she would do this as they were litter mates and were always side by side... Will they ever get used to each other?? My mom says they just need time.

And she keeps hissing at my dog. So I just put her in her kennel when we let rex in. So she doesn't scratch him. And I make him lay down, to show her that he is harmless. Will she get used to him to. Or will she always be like this. Any tips or suggestions on how to help her get used to our house. Right now she is hiding under the cupboards.
