I visited The Louvre in July 1983, and saw the attached picture.
I managed to get this photograph taken of it.
It has intrigued me since then.
I have done Google searches of 'sleeping baby-wrapped in crimson-in the woods' and various permutations of the same wording, but have come up with nothing as to the artist or year.
Since the photograph I have displays a faint reflection of window lighting, I would like to find a print or poster of it for my home.

Any information would be greatly appreciated, and would conclude a 26 year quest.
Thanking anyone and everyone in advance for any help!

I don't know the name or the artist but may I suggest that since you do know where the original painting is hanging, have you ever thought of calling up the Louvre and asking them? After a 26 year quest, for the price of a phone call your search may end. I'm quite sure they could help you. You may even write them a letter including a copy of your photo and I'll bet they will happily answer you within days of just who the painter and title of the painting is.

Hi, Ferris1964!

Did you know that you can actually take a virtual tour of the Louvre to look at various galleries? The link to do that is below.

Another Way to Visit the Louvre.... | Louvre Museum (http://www.louvre.fr/llv/musee/visite_virtuelle.jsp?bmLocale=en)

By doing that, you might find the painting that you seek.

There is also a way to contact people on the site who might be able to help you.

Thanks!
