I have 1999 Nissan maxima. And the security light is on and the car won't start. Does any body know what I can do To reset the alarm and have my car to start again. Please let me know if you know any method of turning the car on. Thank you.

Try locking the doors and unlocking them with the key; sometimes that works to disable the security system.

I have tried that. But this is something serious.

If you make any change such as changing door and the not use the old key balester which is key hole for the door it will make differents in securty system and the car will not start. Say for instan that is your case I don't now three thing you will have to do if you don't if you have the old door take the balester out change it then bring the car to nissan dealer and have them reporgram your car key. If you don't there some locksmith that can program key to the door but still have to get it nissan dealer for them to program the key to car are bring it there and have them do all

Did you happen to find a solution to this? I am having the same problem with my 99 maxima. Have replace all of the sensors and fuel pump along with purchasing a new key from the dealer and still no luck.

Luckyones, there's likely an issue with the ECM. Normally, with these type of problems, it's best to take the car to the dealer.

There is a chip inside your car key
Some times gets damage or the car computer gets damage and no longer recognize your key chip
This causes the anti theft system to prevent the fuel injectors to open and the engine will not start because has no gas.

The security light stain on is your hint of what is going on.

I had the same problem on a 99 Nissan Maxima but I got the car running again what you need to do is replace the engine computer and then call a locksmith to reprogram your key to be recognize by the new computer I when to a lot of pain and suffer to get this solve.

Before changing any thing make sure the plastic part of the key is not broken, if it is call your locksmith to make you a new one before changing any thing.

NOTE do not use a computer from a salvage yard unless you get to see the actual car it came from

If it came from a car than has the body in one piece do not buy it

Its real hard to diagnose this problem and

Chances are it came there because of the same problem you have.

If the car looks like it was in a crash the computer is more likely to be good.

But its always best to get it rebuild or brand new if you can.
After you change the computer call the locksmith to get you car key reprogram.

Do not use a computer from a 98 or 2000 because they will not work no mater what the salvage yard tells you they are to make money not to help you so it has to be 99 only.
