Hi

I am in US (MA) since Feb 2008 and working with same company. Now my wife and daughter has joined me in the month of Jan 2009.

Can I file return (jointly with my wife) as two dependants? If so can you please let me know the required documents for my wife and daughter?

Also, do I need to apply for TAX ID for my wife?

Thanks
Sameer

For 2008, you can file resident tax return as Married Filing Jointly.

You will get standard deduction of $10,900 and exemptions for both of you.

You must both declare your worldwide income for 2008. You can also deduct moving expenses. Use form 3903.
