I recently have seen a painting at a local Art Museum that was the museums priced possession. I was just wondering how much something like that would be worth. I am unsure of where to look and unsure if the data would be correct.

The painting is that of "The Big Tree" by John Babiste-Camille Corot
It is an oil painting done in 1863. In France!

If someone could enlighten me that would be fantastic!

Thanks in Advance

I think you meant to say that this painting is the museum's prized possession.

is this question just to satisfy your own curiosity?

have you considered calling the museum to ask them if they have an estimated value of this painting in their records?

I did mean prized (sorry) and I did ask the Museums Careator and he said they weren't allowed to disclose that information. I'm thinking it's high5 or 6 digits though.

It is out of curiosity nothing more and nothing less!

If you click on the following search, you'll be likely to find similar works by that artist that have been auctioned off so that you can get a general idea as to what prices the works by that artist might be.
