Okay,Here goes. I married a Man who turned out NOT to be the Father of my Daughter.(father unknown) When he divorced me the child wasn't on the divorce papers and nothing has ever been said about it.(Child was 1) He has been remarried and has several children. I did not remarry and recently moved to another state. I am on layoff and had to ask for Government assistance, but they want him to pay child support because he is on the birth certificate.(Child is 17)How can I get him off the birth records I don't feel its fair to mess his life up because of my mistake. Also he has not seen the child since she was 3 when I saw him at a store.

The short answer is that you cant. He is the legal father of the child, regardless of biology.

It can depend on where you are. Birth Certificates can be amended with a court order.

You could ask him to relinquish his paternity
