I am due anyday now and still have this question on my mind.. lol. When you go into labour and have to push for the baby to come out.. do you justpush like your taking a crap? And is there a chance you will crap because of it?

Yes, push as though you were trying to have a bowel movement. Focus your energy down and avoid straining in your face. Avoid prolonged breath holding as this can decrease oxygen to you and your baby, and increases the possibility of broken blood vessels.

It is possible you will have a bowel movement while pushing, but you won't usually know it, or even care at that point. If it were to happen, it is usually minimal and will be cleaned away quickly.

Doula is absolutely correct here. You will push as though you are constipated and trying to have a bowel movement. When you feel a contraction coming on you take a deep breath, chin to your chest, and bear down. No noise... No screaming, etc, this is important as you are not pushing effectively.

Also, there comes a point in labor when pushing becomes involuntary and your natural instincts take over.

Congratulations to you and I wish you the best of luck.

By the time you are ready to push you will just know by the way it feels, how to push and if not the doctor and nurses take their time to help you do it right. And yes it is possible to poo on the delivery table, but u probably will never know and the nurses and doctors will never tell :)
