Hi,

I was in the US last year for 227 days for an Internship.
I used CINTAX which created me the forms 1040NR-EZ and 8843, I used the tax treaty US-France to get a $5000 itemized deduction on my federal taxes.
I'm now trying to file my CA tax returns, but I can't find any software.

I found useful informations here : CINTAX Frequently Asked Questions (http://internationaloffice.berkeley.edu/multiple_use/cintax_faqs.php)
In "Introduction to California Taxes" it is said that I can't use the short form if I'm using a tax treaty.
My problem is that the CA 540NR long form refers to lines in the forms 1040 or 1040NR (but not 1040NR-EZ).
Is there a software that could help me? Or would you ask a tax accountant in my situation?
Thank you,

- Matthieu

Matthieu:

If you filed Form 1040NR-EZ, I recommend that you email me at [email protected] to investigate filing an amendment, because you were eligible to claim daily living expenses while on your internship.

An amendment may yield a significant refund for you.

I can also help you with the California return as well.
