Three people form a partnership and agree to divide the profits equally. X invest $9000, Y invest $7000, Z invest $4000. If the profits are $4800, how much less does X receive compared to having the profits divided in proportion to the amounts invest by X, Y, and Z?

Please give a detailed answer.

You can do this.

Remember, dividing the profits equally is easy to calculate. Just divide by the number of people.

If you want to calculate return according to the proportion that each person invested, add up the investments. Then divide that into the amount that each invested. That will give you a fraction between 0 and 1 for each investor. Figure out what to do with that fraction and you will have finished your homework.

Total amount invested = $9000 + $7000 + $4000 = $ 20000
9000/20000=0,45 = 45%
7000/20000=0.35 = 35%
4000/20000=0,20 = 20%

Total profit = $4800
By proportional sharing of profit each gets his share related to the percentage of investment (see above percentages)
It is easy to calculate that!
