Hi,

I was on L1-visa in Saint Paul, MN, US for a short period of about 50 days (from Feb 9 to Mar 28, 2008). Rest of the year I was in Bangalore, India.

I have received W2 for 2008. It shows Marital Status as "SINGLE" though I am married long time ago. My spouse and son did not come to US for this US trip.

As I did not have SSN previously W2 does not contain SSN. Presently I am in San Jose, CA, US on L1 visa (since Jan 5, 2009). As I got my SSN now, my employer has provided me W2C for 2008, which shows SSN and present address (W2 has old address and no SSN).

1. Which Income Tax return form would be applicable for me - 1040 / 1040EZ / 1040NR / 1040NR EZ / any other ?

2. Can it be submitted online ? If so, which website ?

3. What additional documents would be required to be submitted (e.g. Passport copy) alongwith W2 & W2C ? Is it possible online ?

4. Can I claim any tax benefit for dependants (non-working spouse and son) ?

Thanks,
Kapil

File Form 1040NR with Form 2106 to claim daily living expenses. During the 50-day period of your first visit.
