Hi, I have a 96 F350 with a 7.3. It only has 73000 miles on it. While it was still under warranty, it has has two what I believe to be the high pressure fuel pump, located under the turbo in the V on the engine. In the past I noticed a heavy diesel fuel smell and a drool on the right back side of the engine. Well, I am having the same thing again and at the time of the last pump replacement, the dealer indicated that it was unusual for it to go out or leak. So, there is two questions here, is this unusual and if so why is it occurring to my truck, and the other is what is the proper name for this pump, the dealer called it an high pressure oil pump and wants 699.00 for it, and NAPA seems to think it is a high pressure fuel pump and only wants 139.00 new.

Thanks,
Andy
