Facts: I lived in New Jersey but worked in Connecticut and then in New York over the last 18 months with the same company. I was laid off in Feb of 2009. I understand that, if I file now, the Base Period for these two states run from Oct 1, 2007 - Sept 30, 2008. I worked in Connecticut for the first three months of the Base Period and in New York for the last nine months of the base period. My salary was such that, based on the Weekly Benefit Rate calculations, I would hit the maximum for each state so I don't think I need to file a Combined Wage Claim.

Question: Can I claim unemployment from Connecticut then, after 26 weeks and if I am still unemployed, can I then collect unemployment from New York?

Thank you for your help.
Sam

No, you cannot or everyone would try it, never work, move from State to State.

That scenerio would not be allowed. You collect from one state period using the other states for verification of your employment.
