Two year ago I lent a famliy member a large sum of money with an oral agreement that I'll be paid in 3 months. (that person was going to refinance the house and need to prove the bank he has money in the bank) Two years has passed and I haven't seen one payment.
Every time I ask to be paid the answer is "I don't have money to pay you back", or the person leaves the house when I enter the living room. Should I put a lien on that person house or sue? Because of that I'm losing everything I owen. Please help me. I hope you people can understand my question. I don't write or speack English well, but I did trie to do the best I can. Thanks

Depending on the amount loaned out you should sue the person in Court for the money.

You have a lot of issues,
First the fact you stated it was a "large sum of money"
And the next there is nothing in writing. What type of paper trail do you have, is there a cancelled check, some receipt from a money order, how did you pay them.

Next this is a unsecured debt, so you can sue them and try and get a jdugement, but collection can be a problem depending on where you live, Most places will not allow you a lien on their homestead and some will not allow garnishments ( but others do, some with restrictions)

But you start by sueing them
