It seems my concrete patio has been built over my septic tank and also over my cleanout. After digging beside patio I have been able to uncover part of my tank's lid. Is it fesible to bore into lid and put new cleanout? What to do?

So it ounds like some previous owner did the patio without a permit, this would never be allowed. You should check with your building department but its possible to create a new opening but it will not be easy and you could crack the lid. Another thing to consider, professional cement contractors have eqipment that can saw a round hole large enough for a clean out cap, pricey but better than DIY.

I am a septic installer. One thing you need to remember about your septic tank is they are made with water tight seals. I would suggest cutting through the concrete to gain access to the clean out. Then it can be filled in with pea gravel with some patio tile on the top. Good luck.

If the home owner cuts through the patio they still won't hit the existing clean out. Cutting a hole in the lid would still need to be done, if I read this right. A lot depends on how much lid is exposed beyond the pation. If its only a foot or two it increases the chances of cracking the lid. I recently found my own clean out in the center of my driveway, luckily gravel.
