In December, our area had many days of freezing temperatures. We had turned off our filter and forgot it was off when the outdoor temperature went below freezing. I turned on the filter and no pressure registered on the gauge, and then water started spraying out of the pipe seams in the pool house. I turned the filter off. A few hours later, my husband went out there and turned the filter on and said that everything was okay. About an hour later, I looked out the window to see that the water level had dropped below the skimmer. I went out and turned the filter off again. Does this mean that the pipes have burst under the ground? We have a concrete pool deck. Is this a huge and expensive problem to fix?

It does sound like you have some broken pipes but maybe not below ground. The pipes in your pool house would freeze sooner and harder than any under ground. Let things warm up and then refill the pool and turn your pump back on. Repair/replace any above ground fitting that leaks and keep your fingers crossed.

Thank you for the advise. I will wait about a month and try your suggestion.
