My "dad" disappeared approximately 30 years ago after the courts ordered him to pay back child support or go to jail. I just found out, he is back in that state and purchased a home in 2003. What can be done at this time legally.

Talk to the child support enforcement office in your county (sometimes they operate as a part of the District Attorneys Office). They might be interested in prosecuting. Also, there is no statute of limitations on child support in most states (not in California for example) so you could put a lien on his house and other things. Again, talk to the child support enforcement folks. They'll take care of this for you for free.

Thank you for your advice. I hope I'm not sounding vindictive. I just can't believe he had the nerve to wait until all of us were over 18 years old and move back to the same state.

Nah - you do sound vindictive. Technically this isn't even your complaint - it's your mothers. She was the one owed support, not you.

What do you hope to accomplish here other than getting revenge?

Your mom will need to file a complaint, but it will depend on state law, many have a SOL on collections. So your mom will have to bring all the court action and the money would go to your mom if there is any to collect.

To me your sounding vendictive. Another thing is its not really your fight its your moms. She is the one that would have to proceed with anything as far as collection goes.
