View Full Version : Collection Agency still calling after Judgement

I went to court on Jan 9 and took a consent judgement. It was done though mediation. The mediator said this wasn't normal because I was either offered to make payment or take a judgement. They were not willing to work with me in any other way. Normally they would work something out for less, anything, but not these people.

I live in Florida and the collection agency is Zakiem and Assoc. They were so rude to the first mediator she walked out and I had to wait for another to take her place. This is what I am dealing with.

My questions is: They are still calling me and harassing me. Is this legal? A judge signed off on this and everything is legal. The judgement is for $3200. I called them back and asked why are you still bothering me? We ended up in a yelling match! LOL They the professionals!

Thank you

Did you pay them? A judgement simply is a an order to pay. If you don't pay the judgement, they can certainly dun you or use the judgement to attach your salary or other assets.

The only way to stop them from dunning you is to pay them. However, you can tell them that any and all future contact be by mail.

No, I did not pay and I never will. In Florida, as head of household, they can't attach my pay or anything. I'm actually untouchable. Also, I have no pay to attach, no assets, absolutely nothing! I'm a single parent on top of it. (I lost everything due to a job layoff and they were told for 6 months about my hardship). Other companies worked with me and were taken care of. Discover Bank didn't care so they get nothing now!

The mediator told me they would leave me alone now. I asked about them coming after me in the future. She said unless I get married, there's nothing they can do. (I'm not even dating now, LOL)

I will look into sending them a letter stating all contact must be done by mail. It's not even my phone they call. I lost that too!

Thank you!

If you have a judgment against you which you refuse to pay, why do you find it illegal for them to contact you and request payment?

They may call and attempt to collect to the day you die, and actually they will go after your estate when you do die.

They will watch and wait, look for money in the bank they may attach, look for income if you do start working and more

And it is sad that you feel no moral obligation to pay a debt you owe and brag about being able not to pay. You received something , service or product and after such do not believe you have a need to pay.
That is a reason such collection companies exist.

Your sense of entitlement aside, how did you get into a screaming match when you are deaf?

Apparently your hearing is only a problem when it's convenient for you?

Your sense of entitlement aside, how did you get into a screaming match when you are deaf?

I screamed my hands off!

I can hear some, if you think I owe you a reason. Technology has come along way in regards to how telephones operate these days. I guess you haven't 'heard'.

I know people who hear and speak. Imagine that... like you are owed any more explanations.

I can't believe this site! I asked a question because I did not know the answer too and I get jumped, humiliated, and talked too like I am some kind of low life, to some I may be but that is my business. How can any of you read how I feel and my emotions from just words?

Yeah You Fr_Chuck. You're an idiot! You don't know what I have been through. How can you SNEER at me by saying "And it is sad that you feel no moral obligation to pay a debt you owe and brag about being able not to pay" AM I bragging? No! Sometimes humor helps and this is by no mean any business of your whether I am or not. Just answer the question or take a hike! Or are you too high up on your horse? Huh? We all fall. Some get back up. Do you HEAR me? You too JudyKayTee. How dare you twist a figure of speech. It was a screaming match, even I could 'hear' that. But your not here are you? Huh?

this8384: Duh! If I knew the answer I wouldn't have posted it. OR maybe I did just to get ragged on by all you idiots who have nothing better to do than to humiliate someone who is down and asked a simple question.

I'm off to go and do what you all do. Find someone and beat them up, (figure of speech there JudyKayTee) The hell with answering the question, I'm going to rag them and find fault and make them feel bad because they asked a question.

You should be ashamed of yourselves. THIS is why the world is like it is. All you Saracstic people, nothing better to do than gang up on newcomers, and pouce, scare us away. LOL Well, folks, my dog and I are leaving now. I HEARD you all loud and clear!

Bye~~ :D

We're all in good company - Labman also had his "faults" explained to him the last time OP was "outta here."

How does a person who is hearing impaired, signing, scream her "hands" off and be heard on the other end of the phone? A question for another board, another time.

Soooo... you need a Lab to hear for you because you are deaf, but now say you can hear? Am I missing something?

Thread needs to be pulled. OP isn't looking for answers, but wants to gloat over the fact that s/he refuses to pay someone what they owe. OP is insulting, rude and ridiculously childish.

As OP clearly doesn't want advice or differing opinions and has already made up their mind on this issue
