Quest labs lost my pap results so I had to go back to the doctor, two hours away and
Repeat the test. My insurance changed in the meantime. The doctor's office sent out
A bill for the visit and to the lab for the repeated pap results. I got the denial of
Payment letters. I contacted Quest, fill out their form and never heard from them.
Tell me, should this be my responsibility?? After all, I would not have gone back
To this doctor for at least two years if the test was negative, but since they lost it,
I had to go through this again.

Where you constantly covered by inusrance the whole time? I would think that they should not be able to charge if they never did the lab work in the first place.
I'm not sure though, I would stay on top of it though and call regurlaly until it is straightened out. Hope it all works out.

So sorry to read about your experience. I do have a few questions to pose to you:
1. Your doctor's office usually obtains the specimen for the pap smear. Did you go to Quest instead?
2. What insurance company were you covered at the time of the first lab visit?
3. At what point did your doctor's office realize that the lab result was not received?
4. When was the first date of service?
5. Who is your current insurance carrier AND when did you go back for the repeat lab?
I have a couple of ideas that you may be able to act on if you can provide the info above.
