If you feel she was injured in some way. She could have been hit by a car. Is she an outdoor cat. Best think is to take her to the vet and get it checked out. I wouldn't like to say what to give her for the pain.

There is no safe, non-toxic over the counter pain-killer for cats. You need to get her to the vet asap--this could be serious.

Tylenol, aspirin, etc. are toxic to cats, so please don't try a home remedy.

additional information: I took my cat to the vet on Monday.. I am happy to say she is doing a little better (even putting more weight on the leg).. The vet thinks she may have been bitten (maybe by a male cat since this is her first time to be in heat).. The vet gave her a shot of Prednisone to reduce inflammation and some liquid Keflex to be given 2cc every twelve hours (two times a day).. The vet said if the swelling does not begin to go down he will need to take some x-rays..

Thank you to everyone for your helpful answers..

I'm so happy to hear that she is going to be an indoor kitty. It's the best thing, no doubt about it. You should really plan on getting her spayed too. Spayed cats live much healthier lives (lower rates of cancer, etc.). She'll likely liver a longer healthier life. And you won't have to listen to the moaning and yelling when she's in heat.

Thanks so much for letting us know how she's doing. Very thoughtful of you.

My inside cat got out and has been seriously injured. She had orthopedic surgery to put her hip back in place but there is a lot of tissue damage. The surgery was yesterday and now she is home with antibiotics and pain medications.. She crys when I put ice on the hip and has to stay in a dog crate for 4 weeks so she can heal. I can't stop crying because I didn't pay enough attention and she got out. Please don't let your cats out.
