I am in the final steps for a job as an apartment manager. They are sending me for a CA Livescan background check. I was arrested in 1997 for a bad check-charged with burglary and cultivation of marijuana. Neither was my fault, but I was dumb and refused to tell on my husband (NOW X-husband!). I completed felony probation and drug diversion (there was no prop 36 at that time). I went back to court and had the charges reduced to a misdemeanor. Then later went to court and had the case dismissed. I was looking through my paperwork and I think my lawyer did not put both case numbers on the request for dismissal, only the check case. So, will any of this show up? It's been 12 years. I have been in no other trouble. Not even a parking ticket. I am stressing out because I REALLY need this job.

Hello jen:
There's no way to tell what may show up.
If it's ANY consolation, most background checks that I've run on myself MISS more than they catch.

If they run a check though the actual police department it would or should show up.
So many of the private searches are a hit and miss,
To be sure run one on yourself first and see what is on it.
Also remember if they find out and you lied on the application, they can fire you.

The good thing is that I did not have to lie on the application. The application asked for convictions within the last 5 years.

I was convicted of a felony 18 years ago. Will that show up on live scan?
