Measure the length & width of the floor of a room. Use longest dimensions if there are variations. Multiply the length by 8 and double the answer. Multiply the width by 8 and double the answer. Add the two answers for the wall paint footage of a single room. For the ceiling paint, multiply the length by the width. Repeat this process for every room and add the results.

Hi, pamandjes!

As an example, for the surface area on one wall, you would measure the horizontal and vertical areas and multiply those figures by each other.

For example - 10 feet in length horizontally by 10 feet in height vertically, will give you 100 square feet of surface area to paint.

For the ceiling, measuring the floor area using the method of the horizontal length of one wall multiplied by the horizontal length of an adjoining wall will work.

I'm sure that you can figure out the rest of the math from there.

Thanks!
