My girlfriend and I have been searching for a wolf hybrid puppy to buy. Does anyone know the laws of Michigan in owning part wolf dogs? Do they have to be certain percentage of wolf to be legal?

Also, is the best way to go about buying one through a breeder found online?

Any help would be great.

I don't know of any legitimate breeders that breed wolf hybrids, too much risk involved.

As for the laws, you'll have to call your local animal control or humane shelter, they should know what the laws are where you live.

You do have to realize that this "breed" is highly controversial, fairly new and can have very bad consequences unless you really know what you're doing.

This breed isn't for a novice pet owner, they require a firm but loving hand and are best for people who have a lot of experience raising and training dogs.

I would consider another breed.

I agree with Altenweg that you might want to consider another breed. Wolves and wolf-hybrids are incredibly smart, which is nice, but they bore very easily and also tend to be incredibly destructive and hard to discipline. If you're new to this I'd urge to look into another breed. If you're determined to get a hybrid, then do lots, and I mean LOTS, of homework first. I would include a consultation with a good vet among your prep work. I've known experienced dog people who have gone down this road with some really bad results (for the animal and for them). And definitely don't even consider it if there are small children around.

Wolf hybrids are not dogs for beginners or the busy. They need a lot of training, time, and discipline. If you are looking for a wolf hybrid for novelty's sake, then you should consider another breed.
