I think Im addicted to the computer. Well, Ill be more specific... myspace and Facebook. I cannot stop looking at this guys profile and seeing if he and the other girl are talking. It sounds simple enough... just don't use the computer. EASIER SAID THAN DONE! I work from home 3days a week, I use the computer at work and those sites are not banned and I use it for school, so the NOT using the computer is out of the question... Any other suggestions?

Can you talk to your employer and ask them to block the sites? Because potentially you are putting your job at risk as well.

Yes I have already asked just to save my sanity at work the thing is I don't sit in a cubicle. I work at many computers because I work at a hospital and have access to all of them. It is up to my own free will and that will is NOT strong enough. However, this site is definitely helping me out of those addictions and getting me into this site as one!

Sometimes we can be our own worst enemies. I don't have any other ideas, but someone will come along with something brilliant soon.

Right now I would treat it just like your addiction and fight it every step that you can. It's like a new break up take it moment by moment while increase the time of moments. It will get easier.

Its not funny.Especially if you want to stop and are finding it difficult to do so.
Here is a link I think you will find interesting. I thought it was very informative.

That is a really good article.

I just wanted to add that, like any addiction, making the commitment to change is the first step. There are good ideas and plans to put into place to assist you in accomplishing this goal, in that article.

I wouldn't rule out addiction counselling either if the overall symptoms of addiction are too overwhelming to handle alone. Sometimes talking out, and working out an plan, with clear and defined steps, with an impartial party, makes it much easier. Especially when there are slips and confusion along the way, just as there are for any major changes you are trying to accomplish.

I don't see anything funny about it at all, and no doubt many are in the same situation as you are.

Good luck.

Realize that it is an obsession and if you do not even know this guy most likely you have created an image of him that may not be anything really like you made him out to be in your mind.

You can also try to realize that you can get fired from your job at the hospital. Our hospital does not allow internet access to most employees. Those that do have it are monitored for their use.

I have read about some pretty grim studies about young folks who spend too much time on the computer.

You need exercise and relating to real people. Can you get a part time job as a waitress? Good exercise and good money.

Take an aerobics class. Go for bicycle rides with new friends?

It is really serious, I agree.

Take care. :)
