The army will give you E4 specialist rank if you have a degree. I don't know about the other branches though

Yeah, I joined right out of high school with nothing so I joined as an E-1 been in a little over 2yrs now & I'm currently an E-3 soon to be E-4. So that would work in your favor to not join as a pvt lol

You need to get any promise from the recruiter in writing, normally the rank does not come in basic but afterwards

In the army, everyone who had rank wore it in basic... marines you cant. And its not hard to make rank anyway.. I went in as an E1, made E4 in 18 months, and I've had that for a year now... soon I'll have TIS for E5

Have you looked into ROTC? That can get you in at a higher rank.

Im going for the Marines. My recruiters told me they don't compensate like the army and navy. Your civilian education, and your military education are separate. Which is why you'll transfer to different bases for whatever position you take. Im trying for Aviation, which requires a long enlistment. Due to the training involved.

I take my ASVAB on the 24th, if I pass on the 31st I have an aptitude for general health. I scored a 57 on my PT. so they're pretty sure Ill pass the ASVAB.

I believe ROTC stands for Reserve Officer Training Course. Most campuses have an ROTC center where you can get more details. Completion of ROTC can have you enter the military as an officer.

If he also gets a 4 year degree. He mentioned that he was getting an Associates, so I believe that does not qualify him for OCS/commissioning.
