Purchased a vehicle in Nashville, TN. 5 or 6 yrs. Ago. It was a lemon and circumstances happen to which I could not continue paying for it. After they picked up vehicle, I never rcv'd a statement of what they sold the car for, nor a balance of what I owed. I have now a collection lawyer after me in the worse way. I 1st. Encounter at court, he asked what could I afford to pay? I told him around $50. He replied that wasn't good enough and said he would not accept less than $200 a month. I could not afford it and attempted to pay for a few months, eventually falling short of that goal. We are back in court with continuance after continuance. He wants me to give him bank stmts, tax returns check stubs, etc. in order to garnish or take out bank accounts which he has done in the past, almost costing me foreclosure on my house. Since I have not giving him anymore of that information, he says I am in contempt. He has as of 2008 rcv'd from me over $3500. The vehicle only cost $4800 and he says my balance due is $5000. I need help is there anyone out there that can help me? I don't want my family homeless. We are a struggling family living from paycheck to paycheck.
