I have nero 5 v5.5.4.0. and all I want to do is burn an avi onto a cd as a avi. So far when I try to burn it to cd the cd's don't work anywhere... how do I burn it onto cd?

Some avi downloads can be burnt onto cdr's but will only play on the PC I am having the same prob as well
I have been told that you can convert avi to dvd
Its just trying to find the software

Just do a Google search on software that does what you want and you should find several others.

It may be that that avi is actually a divx file and that you have the divx codec and others don't (because it's usually a separate download/install).

As Needkarma posted avi is divx file and you need divx codecs. You can get the divx bundle (codecs & player - but choose only the codec) from
www.download.com. Type Divx Bundle in the Software search bar in the site and go. You will get the new window with many softwares. Download from the "New Divx Player and codecs". Install the codecs in your system and try to burn it in your CD Burner. As brucer mentioned in the post avi files might work only on Pcs (it might work on some dvd/cd players)
