Hello l:
You can't be sued until you're 18. If there IS a court date scheduled, GO to the hearing and tell the judge how old you are, and he'll dismiss the charges.

Are they suing you or have they arrested you? I don't see how a lawsuit could arise out of stealing.

The guy said he was arresting me for mischief and brought me into the back room and by now I'm freaking out like is going on, can he do this for just a tag I found on the ground?!

So you are talking about an ARREST for criminal mischief and not a lawsuit?
Yes, apparently he CAN arrest you under these circumstances because he has.
Now you both go to Court, you both tell your stories, the Judge decides.

The issue is, they don't believe you just found it on the groud, they believe you took the tag off a item and someone else got away with the item most likely, or you were trying to take the tag off and just did not get away with it.
So they may be charging you, and /or sueing ( they will actually sue your parents)
So your parents need to be involved in it.
Have you told your parents, have they contacted the store about it

Something doesn't sound right here. Why would you take the security tag out of the store, you had to know that would set off the alarm.
I don't think we're getting the whole story here.
