View Full Version : Pc only sees 127g of new 500g hard drive

I have installed a new 500g hard drive but my PC only sees 137g.I am currently running windows xp.
Can anyone provide a simple solution?

Convert the drive to NTFS from FAT32 as FAT can't handle the extra capacity.
Make sure your WHOLE machine is running NTFS as well.

As mentioned above, you can convert to NTFS or partition the remaining space into individual drives at 137gb each as that is what windows will see on a FAT partitioned drive

Or you can leave the 137gb as C: and allocate the remaining as NTFS and just make a 363gb D: drive

Go to run prompt and type cmd, and go to the drive you want to change it convert d:/fs:ntfs it will as enter new volume label type your drive and press why it will convert to fat to ntfs
