If I just got a judgement in the mail for garnishment of my bank acct. is there a way that I can prevent it and make payments to the garnishee?

Welcome to AMHD. You can contact them ask ask for a payment agreement, while the garnishment may be released. This is not uncommon.

After they have the judgement is not a good time, since there is no reason for them not to take all the money or even garnish your pay from work.

You can call them and ask to set up a payment plan but I really doubt they will, unless you can make fairly high payments to them.

Ty for the advised! I did try to call them this morning but they are not in office today but they will be calling in the morning.I really hope they work with me because I have to children to support and all the nessary bills to servive plus I work out of town and if I can't afford gas then I can't work which means we will be on the streets

I'm not clear what has happened here. Generally, a creditor obtains a judgement against you. Once that judgement is obtained, they can use it to attach certain assets or garnish your salary. Generally you are not informed until after the fact of these actions.

Also you don't "get a judgement in the mail". You may get a mailed notice informing you of a judgement or an action taken using that judgement.

So you really need to understand exactly what you received. Its possible your account has already been frozen.
