It is important to know if your child is on any meds before we continue.

It could be a symptom of the medication.

Shawn,

It is possible that the Florinef is causing this symptom. Please make sure your daughter makes regular visits to her doctor while on these medications due to possible side effects.

I wish you all the best.

Thank you for your vote of confidence Shawn, I am sure you will be strong too. I just remember to keep humor in my life, it really helps.

Well, as far as Cushings, and its counterpart Addison's it is not uncommon for your daughter to be on a corticosteroid (Florinef) and a steriod (prednisone). Remember that these two drugs will have side effects, some possibly severe. I am curious if she is going to be on these long term because they have been known to cause permanent damage. Remember both of these conditions are extremely rare.

However, from looking the drugs up on Medscape.com it is possible that the black patches your daughter is experiencing are only a side effect. I really had a feeling this is what it was, that is why I posted my first question before I got side tracked on anything else.

Florinef is known to cause bruising in skin and that is what I am thinking this is. I am very happy to hear that she is involved with NIH, great place, you are lucky to get her in there, as I am sure you know.

Good luck, keep your chin up. And, please, keep me posted.
