My computer started freezing up and not taking off deleted programs. So I did a System Recovery. It worked but now when I try to download songs or burn a CD, it won't connect, and it won't start the burning process. Also, I tried to install a few new things, and the download would complete but came up with errors and wouldn't install it correctly. And one last thing, my internet explorer and mozilla will not load. It is saying there isn't an internet connection. I have AOL and it works perfectly fine, but even when I'm signed on to AOL, internet explorer will not load. I'm confused as to what all of this is. Any suggestions?

What do you mean by System Recovery, reinstalled windows or used system restore to back to an earlier date

The System Recovery is when you first turn on your computer, and there's an F10 button that you hit before you even get to the desktop. It's not a system restore, and I did not reinstall windows. All system Recovery does is clean out the system, but keeps most of your programs. It takes it back to manufacturer settings, or when you first took the computer out of the box. It's actually a good thing to do before doing a system restore. And having to redownload everything. Everything is working fine except for some downloading. It's acting as if I need to fix a setting or download some type of small program that allows me to download other things. When I get on Limewire to download some songs, it won't connect. And when I try to burn a CD, it instantly says "Burning Failed". My AOL connects perfectly fine. The internet explorer won't connect either but it did that before I even did the system recovery. It's basically just a connection problem. Maybe I just need to redownload the programs and it will be fine. I can try that.

If I were in same situation, this is what I personally would do
-No guarantees, but this is the way I would approach it
Do repair installation
Repair Installation
A Repair Install will replace the system files with the files on the XP CD used for the Repair Install. It will leave your applications and settings intact, but Windows updates will need to be reapplied.
Perform a Repair Installation (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/tips/doug92.mspx)
When that is done
*Unisntall AOL - In add/remove programs, unistall anything related to AOL - Reboot if required
*Uninstall Limewire
ONce above 2 are uninstalled, Go to windows update and get all your updates again because this needs to be done after a repair installation
Now run a registry cleaner/optimizer application
ccleaner (Freeware)
Download CCleaner 2.16.830 - FileHippo.com (http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/)
On the right hand side, click download latest version
ONce that is done, reinstall AOL and get that working
-At this point, everything should be working
Install your limewire
Hopefully this will help resolve some issues
Post back if you give this a try, as mentioned, this is how I would approach this
