Hello,

My landlord is a total idiot! He's given us a totally un-reasonable contract stating that we are not allowed overnight visitors! He is constantly checking up on us and he even drives past to see if we have anybody visitors at all.

I want to get out but I don't want him to keep our deposit, which he has even got stored in a government funded scheme! The landlord is totally dogdgy! I was just wondering how to check if the contract is actally legitimate or it might just be a print out?

Also how do I go about getting him fined for not keeping our deposits in a proper government funded account?

If you signed, agreeing not to have overnighters, it doesn't matter if he made it up.
Do you have a copy? He should be able to provide you one.

Hello s:

Couple questions first...

If he's your landlord, what agreement DID you already sign, if any? WHY is he giving you a contract (lease?? ) NOW?? IS this a house, or maybe subsidized housing?? Why do you think he's NOT allowed to keep your deposit where it is? What state do you live in?

He has given us a contract and it does state no overnight visitors but I asked him about it and he goes you can have visitors but they can't stay over a long period which is understandable but now he's just said no one can stay full stop.

Im from the UK and there's a new law that came out saying that every landlord has to put the tenants deposit into a government funded account.

Hello again, s:

Thanks. Sorry. I don't know about UK law.
