I have a 91 Accord that is frustrating me. Recently installed a re-built distributor. Previous one leaked at the seal. Car always started and ran very well. With new distributor, the car will not start. If I crank it all the way in the advanced direction, it will start. Set timing per specs. WILL NOT RESTART. What gives? Also noticed that with the timing light on, if I open the throttle quickly, the engine bogs and the timing light stops flashing. Other info - when it doesn't start, the timing light indicates that it is not firing all the time...

I can't remember much about the honda, but something tells me that it may have been installed 180-degrees out of time. I've done this myself on isuzu and chevy motors, and had similar problems. Just a thought.

The 180 out can't be it, because the engine runs. The problem is that I have to advance the timing fully to get it to start. Once it's running, if I set the timing to spec, then it will not restart. Thought the cam might be off, moved it one tooth - no change, will not start.
