Okay. Here is my long story. My daughter is 4 is a couple of months. Her father has been in and out of jail his whole life. (who was I to try and change him) He is in jail right now. He cheated on me with a 13 year old. He has been in there for almost 2 year now. He has never had anything to with her, even when we were together. My husband wants to adopt her. We have a son together. My daughter's father wants to sign over rights and let my husband adopt her. My questions. How do I go about doing this. We don't have much money. I was told there is a form I can print out and send to him. Do I have to get a lawyer? About how much will all of this cost? I just really want this man out of our lives.

You will have to file for the adoption and have him sign over all rights now and in the future with permission to adopt.
There are some "online" sites that offer these forms, but to be honest, do you want to find out in 10 years that something was done wrong and it turns out not to be 100 percent valid
So best thing is to get that lawyer, to at least if nothing else
But what do you mean"out of our" lives he has been in jail for 2 of her 4 years according to you, so how has he been in your life to start with.

Its really not expensive for a lawyer if everyone agrees. It's a handful of paperwork. Save up some money - this is not something you can *afford* to have be done improperly. Many lawyers will work on a sliding scale. Talk to a few... you may be surprised.

Well, he sends me letters. I just still feel attached to him. I know for a fact he would find some sneaky way, when he gets out, to take her. Just to hurt me. I just don't want to have to deal with this crap anymore.
