My wife's Kai Sportage (2006) drove up the street last week and stopped - engine light came on, engine sputtered and stopped. We towed it to the Kai Dealer and their techs told us there was water in the tank (there was I saw it). They needed to drain the gas tank and replace some injectors ($900.00), and it is NOT covered buy their 100,000 mile warrentee because it was water from the gas station that is in the fuel system. Talked to the gas station and they looked at their water/fuel readings for the month (they say) and there was no water registered and that it is "impossible" for water to enter the tank of an auto from the gas pump - too many safety devises.
I heard Kai had a lot of trouble with their fuel systems up to 2001. From there on, there is no information at all. The Kai was locked and in our garage, so we know that someone did not put the water in the tank to be mean.
Both the Kai Dealer & Aloha Petro. Say it's the others falt - I'm out $900.00
Any suggestions ?

What codes did they pull from the computer? Usually water in the gas tank doesn't damage the injectors; people around the world get condensation in their tank without doing more serious damage. I think the dealer's trying to take you for a ride.
