My furnace will not egnight the gas. The fan turns on but I do not havae heat. Is it OK to keep the furnace on or shoule I turn it off for fear of having a CO2 problem??

Is this a standing pilot light one that you need to light or is the furnace electronic lighting?
I posted a site on hot water heaters that show a typical gas valve. They are basically the same for a furnace. See if there are lighting instructions on the inside metal cover you pull off the furnace to give you lighting instructions if it's a pilot light
