Hi Martin...

Are you asking how to check the condition of the water pipes/water system in your house?

I guess you have to walk around the entire system and check each joint individually. If you have copper tubing you are looking to confirm that you have TYPE L tubing in place (blue markings on pipe), that the pipes are hung well and that there is a no corrosion on the pipes... especially between dissimiliar metals.

Check the condition of shutoffs everywhere including shutoffs under sinks, nect to toilets, etc. You also want to check the condition of the MAIN WATER SHUTOFF next to the water meter or pump system. Here, shut the main water shutoff off and then open all pipes in the house and let the system drain completely. If water still fows after a reasonable amount of time has expired then the main shut off will need to be replaced. Depending on the pipe entering the building this could be interesting or expensive to fix.

If your pipes are older brass or glavanized pipes then you will still be checking all things above, especially water VOLUME and water PRESSURE. Here, open all faucets and see how water flows. If volume or pressure is low it may be due to pipes getting choked down by sediment deposits and then these pipes would need to be replaced.

Anyway, that is a start for you. If you can be more specific in your question then I may be able to offer more. Let me know...
