Hi , Im a resident of India.I did a contracting work for a company in US.I worked from home.So I want apply for ITIN but Im unable to find the exact process to do it from India.Can someone please help.

If you are LIVING in India and did the work in India, you have NO tax liability to the U.S. government.
Your tax liability is limited to what you owe the Indian government.

Hi AtlantaTaxExpert,
Thank you for the reply.Yes you are correct.But I think they wanted me to fill W-8ECI , so that they can check my foreign nationality,Because the only thing they know about my nationality is what I have given them at the time of registration.Actually this (Which tax form do I need to complete? - TopCoder Wiki (http://www.topcoder.com/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=4096369)) is the exact link they asked me to refer for submitting the tax-form.

You will file W-8BEN. Your income is not subject to the U.S. taxes.
You do not need to apply for ITIN. Your application will be rejected.
