Hello everyone. I have a hip hop group named "South Park Enterprise" and we are trying to throw a charity event to help build a new playground for the children of our community. We need to get sponsors but do not know how to go about doing this. We are looking for sponsors that can provide stage equipment and preforming equipment. We are also looking for sponsors that will help us get a few big name hip hop artists to preform at the show. If any one here knows how we can go about getting the sponsors please help us with this. All help is gratefully appreciated. Thank You.

Hi, southparkenterp!
My suggestion would be to put something together on paper, with someone helping you to do that, and go personally to businesses, churches and people who you could know to help you sponsor and event.
What you say in person to the potential sponsors should be something that you work out in advance as far as what to say, so that the sponsors hear the same information from anyone who represents your group.
You could even place free ads on the Internet in order to find the sponsors. I could show you how you could do that. Please let me know.
Hopefully, others will also be along to address your question.
Thanks!

Hi again, southparkenterp!
Schools and churches might have equipment that you need that they could lend to you.
How about asking to see if a local newspaper might be willing to put in an ad for that which you're looking, for free?
Thanks!

Go in person to companies in your town that sell or rent sound equipment, have a detailed plan to show them about your event. Some companies will lend you the equipment, maybe even the sound guy for a promotional mention at the event. "The equipment was generously donated by..." You can also hit up other companies for cash donations if you show them a prospectus of sorts. How much you hope to raise, how the funds will be used, how much you figure you need to build the playground, etc..
Ask a local radio station that plays hip hop if they would get on-board helping you promote it or at least put you in touch with record labels and performers that might be interested. Check the television stations and newspapers too. They can give you free publicity if they deem the cause worthy enough.
