I am very sorry. Speaking for everyone, I think we're sorry that we couldn't help figure out how to find out the square root of a number in time, however, if you get a similar test, here's the method:

Guess, Divide and Average( once you find an average, multiply it by itself and if it isn't extremely close, keep repeating the steps.

For example, 5. It helps if your guess is a good guess, however, you'll find the answer eventually. My guess is 2. We divide 5 by my guess(which is 2). Then we average the guess(2) and the answer(2.5). I'm assuming you know how to average. Keep repeating the steps until you find the average multiplied by itself is close to 5!

I just found out that it's actually called Newton's Method.

I forgot to mention, when I say repeat the guessing part, divide 5 by the average. The method is for any number.

Dude, are you asking how to get the square root of a number? It is very simple

The square root of a number is the number that when multiplied by itself equals the original number.
Such as ,what is the square root of 25?
5*5=25, so the answer is 5
Or square root of 100
10*10=100
I really don't know a way to get the answer on any problem except to try the numbers.

Hope I helped

Ok. Let's ask you to find the square root of 2. Not an easy task, eh? I gave the solution...

There's also a method that is similar to long division. You can see more info here: Math Forum - Ask Dr. Math (http://mathforum.org/library/drmath/view/58254.html)

I think there are plenty of methods. Here's another one: Math Forum: Ask Dr. Math FAQ: Square and Cube Roots (http://mathforum.org/dr.math/faq/faq.sqrt.by.hand.html)
