I received a summons regarding a credt card debt. They are claiming over $12,000 but just before I applied to a company to help with my debt it was $6400. I need to know where I can find a generic letter to respond to a summons. I know what I need to write but am not sure how to write it. I live in NY and have no house or savings. I will pay off the debt through the company that I joined in '06. They have settled 6 out of the 7 credit card debt and now I am being sued by the last one. I cannot afford a lawyer. HELP. How do I repond to this summons. Time is running out and I need to file the papers with the court and the lawyers.

Ask the company you are working with how to respond. They should be helping you.
