My situation is a bit complicated. I came to the US on a F1 visa in 2003 for a masters program, my coursework was completed by 2005 but I was working on my thesis and my I-20 was extended to Dec 2006. In dec 2006 I took a pre-completion OPT and started working in a firm. The pre-completion OPT ended in Dec 2007, by then I enrolled in a second masters program which had CPT requirements and I was working on CPT of the new program from Jan 2008 to August 2008. In the meanwhile my H1 was filed and approved from Oct 2008, and I dropped the new course in September 2008 and started to work on H1 from oct.

Now my question really is, did I violate my status in September 2008( I wasn't working) and would I have any potential issues when I go for stamping (due to the elongated F1 period and the adding and dropping of degrees). Also I haven't yet defended my thesis for the first masters, so I don't really have the degree in hand. Would that pose a problem during stamping?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you for your time

Nothing you can do now... should have consulted immigration attorney in the first place.

I agree I should have, but I would still like to hear a professional opinion if you could provide one.

Thanks,
