How do I figure cost basis on personal property such as clothing, furnishings, and housewares when I obviously wouldn't keep receipts and get receipts from people who gave things to me from years and years ago?:eek:

I don't know what to put on line 10a. The IRS said to put the same amount as on line 2 of fomr 982. This would be the total income from the 1099c's.

Is this correct?:confused::confused:

Have you tried making an appointment with your local VITA (Volutary Income Tax Assistance) worker?

They normally set up shop at the local public library.

I would normally recommend that you use a tax professional, but I believe you stated in another posting that you cannot afford one, so the VITA person is your best bet.
