Last week I e-filed my 2008 tax return with HR Block with 1040EZ. I realized yesterday that I could have deducted my student loan interest (form 1098E). I used HR Block to enter that info in and got a 1040A which is what I should have done. Though I couldn't submit the changes online. Anyway I used the info from both forms to figure out what I need to fill out on the 1040X.

1. Do I need to send in the 1098E or the adjusted 1040A with the 1040X?

2. Should I wait until the 1040EZ is fully processed (I get my return) before sending in the 1040X?

Thanks

PS the original 1040EZ and 1040A I got from HR Block have DO NOT FILE written on them.

1) Just send in the Form 1040X. You CAN attach a photocopy of the Form 1098-E to the Form 1040X, but it is NOT necessary.

2) Mail it immediately. The Form 1040EZ was processed within hours of the efile being submitted.
