I am trying to help a friend. She would like to see a movie she watched many years ago. She thought it was called Sentimental Journey. However when I did a search on that film and read her the theme she said no, that is not it. She remembers a woman was dying and she and her husband or lover went to a beach house and she eventually died. However there was no child involved as stated in the Sentimental Journey write up. She remembers them walking on the beach and discussing their life etc. She also remembers that the song Sentimental Journey was part of the movie. It was a very long time ago. Her son is dying and I want to do something nice for her and I thought if I could find the movie, I could purchase it for her. I thought it might take her mind off her own problems. I wish I could give more info, but she was unsure who the actress or actor were who performed in the movie. I realize this may be a lost cause, but I thought I'd give it a try.

Bill Beck (Robert Stack) is a brilliant and important scientist who concentrates on his work so deeply that he forgets to take care of himself. His wife Julie (Lauren Bacall ) recognizes his importance, and takes care to nurture him so that he can be free to concentrate on his work. Julie learns that she is dying. She does not want her husband to be left alone when she dies. She adopts a child and trains her in how to take care of Bill. The child tries to be helpful, but gets in the way of Bill and his work. There seems to be no connection between Bill and the child. Then Julie passes away and they are now alone together... things change

I too are lokking for a certain movie with the song Sentimental journey & the little girl see the sprit of the woman who adopted her outside by a tree with a rope swing & it is cold & snowing & she runs away.. any help on the name of this movie ? It was somewhere around the 50's
