Not sure if this is the right forum to ask this question but I am going to ask anyway. I just went into the DMV to register my car, I found out that they won't let me register it because I have a lien on it for $900.00. They told me that I was in a wreck a few months ago. I was not in a wreck at all but they said I will still have to get the issue resolved before they will let me register it. I did not have any insurance this year on my car as it was broke down. The year before that I did not have insurance either and it was parked but one day the lady next door to me (who I cannot get ahold of anymore), her farrot was dying and needed a ride to the vet around the corner. I said no I can't because my car is not legal, she told me she had an SR22 which makes it legal for her to drive any car whether it is insured or not, that is what she told me anyway, so her and my wife went to the vet. When they got back they told me someone rear ended them. I went outside and yes the back bumper was almost ripped off my car. They told the lady they had no insurance and since her car wasn't damaged they would not alert any insurance companies. Well I am thinking maybe this lady went and reported that we hit her so she could get her car fixed for free and now 2 years later I have a lien on my car and I don't know what to do. I barely have the money to register my car let alone trying to pay a $900.00 Lien. What can I do?

You need to find out who the lienholder is and get documentation as to why the lien was placed on your vehicle. Find that out and we can go from there.
