We just bought a new home and the heat has never worked well. When the heat goes off the fan continues to run and blows freezing air which lowers the temperature back down several degrees. They have come out several times and said there is nothing wrong and this is normal. The second time they came out they said the system was without Freon which they said was fine the first time they cheked it. When the heat would come on the temperature in the house would go down and not up. I am freezing. And yes, the fan is on "Auto".

Is this a brand "new home" or is it a new home to you and its new because you just got it? The freon should not have been low to begin with if is a brand new unit. I would get another service tech out. It blowing COLD air is not normal. It sound like its kicking in the air condition mode after the heat mode is done. Or the blower fan itself is not shutting down when it souls.
You need another tech there to look st it.

This is a brand new home, just built. At first it would not blow warm air at all and they came out and told us we were crazy. After freezing for three weeks we made them come back out and they said it was out of freon. Now it does warm up but then at the end of the cycle just when you start to ffel warm, it switches to cold air and your freezing again. I will call the builder and have someone else come out and look at it. Thanks!

What style of heater do you have. Must be a heat pump if freon is a factor in heating. Even so, there should be some sort of backup heat(electric, or gas). Something is not right here. Hound the original installers until problem is fixed. If house is brand new(newer than a year old) then you should not be charged for any repairs on heating system(in theory) Make sure they get this fixed before warranty is void.

Yes, a good ol heat pump! And no backup heat. We are getting LP logs next week so we can get the house somewhat warm. It does not get above 68 degrees and that is only when the sun is out.
