Hello, first time on site; desperate for help.
We recently installed a 'spin-down' type filter to remove sediment from well water. Now noticing intermittent low (barely drips out of faucets) water pressure since the install. During the low water pressure, the pump;tank is not filling so the filter is either prohibiting adequate water flow to the rest of the house OR creating false pressure in the tank so that the pump won't run to fill tank. Does anybody have a solution? We need the filter as we are getting a lot of silt/sand in our water. Help!

The easy to check and see if it is the filter is simply put the filter into bypass mode. If the problem disappears, then you have found the culprit.

Ok, but if is the filter, then what is my option to remove the sediment??

Are you talking about a filter similar to this?

Well, that was the first type of sediment filter we used 'canister' type. We replaced it with a spin down type that has a release valve at the bottom that you can clean out by just opening it into a bucket. We switched because the filters for the canister run $40 & we literally could chg them every other month. (Trying to be more cost effective with less waste to throw out) Had canister filter system for approx 2yrs. 1st yr, seems like no probs, but for the last 6mos I have noticed gradual decrease in water pressure in taps... but when spindown installed, water pressure was better than ever... until you run the water for while... then NO PRESSURE... until pump kicks in to fill tank... then good for awhile... repeat, etc.

I would look at a one other thing (in addition to bypassing the filter to make sure it is the problem).

1. When I am down to just a dribble of water, how much pressure does my gauge at the tank show? If it shows, say 30#, then you know that the problem is not with the tank.

Ok, will do. Thanks much!
