I have water dripping under my kitchen sink. It seems the water is coming from right behind the shut off valve bolt. Can and how do I fix it ?

Tighten the nut behind handle. It is called a packing nut. Make sure you use two pair of pliers, one to hold valve body in place, and the other to tighten packing nut. Let me know if this works. If it does, please rate my answer. Good luck and take care,

Sorry, I misread your question. Can you be more specific about the bolt. I believe you have a leak at packing nut, but when you say bolt, it confused me. Is the leak at point where handle stem turns?

Hi all..
Just wanted to add a picture to compliment MGD77s answer... :)
For anyone else reading this thread, you start with a 1/8th to 1/4 turn (clockwise) on the nut and see if that stops the leak.
Be sure to hold the valve body itself while turning the nut (not shown in picture below)... ;)
